We are serious about safety and strictly adhere to the safety regulations established by our sport’s governing body, the USRowing Association. When rowers train on the water, coaches accompany the team in safety launches (motorized skiffs). The launches are equipped with safety gear as well as a marine radio and a cell phone. No CRF rower is allowed on the water without the direct supervision of a coach in a safety launch.

Racing shells rarely capsize, but in case of this unlikely event, all rowers must be able to swim 100 meters (any stroke) and tread water for ten minutes.

We row on the water, rain or shine. The only exceptions are lightning storms or freezing weather. On questionable weather days, rowers should contact the coach to find out if practice will be on the water or will be moved to our indoor erg location. As a rule, come prepared to practice indoors or outdoors every day.
